My name is Abbey Smith, and I am a travel writer...I travel in America, hiking the latest and greatest trails that go straight up, taking in nature in a way I wish more people would. It clears the mind, feeds the soul, and gives you a breath of fresh air.  I frequent Florida when I've had enough skiing, snow shoeing, and sledding...and soak up the beautiful rays that have found a place in my heart as well.  When I find myself void of any more trails in this great place, then I will venture on...but until then...I travel, I write, and most days I do both.  I review great places that I find and share them for your travels as well! February, I was lucky enough to visit the Ormond Beach Memorial Art Museum and Gardens...They were founded in 1946 by Ormond Beach residents as a living monument to creative freedom, equality to all persons, and to commemorate service of WWI & WWII veterans who fought valiantly for that ideal.  Nestled in 5 ponds, and built on a sand dune back in the 1940's, 2.5 acres of beautiful walking paths, turtles and frogs, aquatic plants, and a tranquil feel you don't find in many downtown parks. It was an amazing experience and a wonderful way to spend a few hours in the afternoon.  There were women doing yoga, couples walking the trails, and a lady meditating by one of the frog ponds in the sun.  It centers you when you  least expect it to, and I would tell anyone, no matter their shape or condition to take the time to enjoy this walk.

March brings spring here in Wyoming....although a little bit slower in our area than most....Today is sunny and bright, almost 30* out, and time to start pulling the winter layers off and warming one's soul in the spring sun. It is a time for reflection...growth....renewed spirit...and strength.

Spring break is amongst us, the college kids get their last shot of winter here as the ski resorts begin to close, and our tourist town of Jackson Hole Wyoming is spring cleaning from the winter and getting ready for a busy tourist season this summer.  We are the south entrance to Yellowstone National Park, and home of the "Teton Mountains"...if you have never been, you should.

The elk are on the move back to the mountains from a fairly easy Wyoming winter this year....1000's of them congregate to and from the National Elk Refuges in and around Western Wyoming. Late January till early March, Bull elk lose their antlers. Most of the sheds are left on the National Elk Refuges to be picked up by the local Boy Scouts of America and sold in a auction to raise money for the feed grounds that keep our wildlife safe from the winter conditions. It is a wonderful way to get to view your local herds without disruption of their habitats.

June is an amazing month here in Wyoming.  The warm and sunny days catch you off guard to the sudden thunderstorms that bound across our great state!  The cattlemen have the heifers on the move, from their first green grass to the second of a few pastures they will visit over the next few months of summer....Fattening up their brood, enjoying what God my bring them in the form of weather. Early month highs still sit around 70's with cool nights and longer days.  Perfect for hiking morning, noon, or night.   The kids are out of school and coming by the car loads to enjoy their summer working at the local burger joints and coffee shops, camping all summer, living in adventure for where they may want to settle one day.
